As a mom and a LITTLE bit of a planner…. Ok I’m a big massive over-planner! I’m constantly thinking of healthier ways I can give my daughter “treats” that are actually good for her. It’s super important to me that she not only grows up big and strong but doesn’t feel deprived when she inevitably has friends who eat differently than we do.
One of the ways I accomplish this is through using natural sweeteners like honey, pure maple syrup and dates, or in this case date paste!
Truth be told she thinks it’s a treat just to have a small spoonful of it right from the frig! I’ll be working on new recipes soon that incorporate this date paste as the sweetener so stay tuned!
This is a super simple “recipe”, only two ingredients and about 15 minutes are necessary to accomplish it and then you’ll be ready to use it in place of jam, use it as a fruit dip or mix it into any recipe you please!
Eat and Enjoy,
Date Paste is full of nutrient sweetener option that adds sweetness as well as depth of flavor.
- 1 cup lightly packed pitted medjool dates (approximately 10–14 dates)
- 3/4 cup boiling water
- Place pitted dates and water in a small sauce pan and boil over med-high heat for 10 minutes.
- Pour the dates and liquid into a small blender or you can use an immersion blender, like I did and blend until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
- Transfer to an airtight container and store in the refrigerator for up to two weeks. Enjoy!
