Instant Pot Beef and Broccoli Recipe
We’re BIG on asian flavors around here, I love them, crave them and enjoying making them in clean recipes. This instant pot beef and broccoli recipe is fully flavored by using coconut aminos, fish sauce, garlic and ginger. This recipe is easy to make, amazingly delicious and much healthier than anything you’ll find in a restaurant.
Fish Sauce
I absolutely love fish sauce, it’s strong so you only need a little but it adds such great umami flavor to any dish. This brand is whole30 compliant since it’s sugar free. I’ve only found this one brand to be Whole30 compliant and if you are local to a Trader Joe’s they notoriously have had the best price on this item. There’s no true fish sauce substitute that I’m aware of, you need the real deal to add the desired flavor to a dish that calls for it.
How To Serve Instant Pot Beef and Broccoli
This dish is truly good just on it’s own! But you can certainly also bulk it up by serving it over cauliflower rice, spaghetti squash, inside a sweet potato or on top of whole30 mashed potatoes.
Instant Pot Beef and Broccoli with Rice
This Instant Pot Beef and Broccoli dish is naturally Paleo, Whole30 and Keto however if you aren’t following those eating styles you can certainly serve this dish over rice. The organic basmati rice from Trader Joe’s happens to be my favorite rice in case you’re looking for a good one.

Description
Instant Pot Beef and Broccoli – This comforting and hearty dish brings bold asian flavors that are Whole30, Paleo, Keto, Gluten Free and Soy Free. It’s the perfect healthy 30 minute meal!
Ingredients
Marinade
- 1/3 cup coconut aminos
- 2 Tablespoons fish sauce (click for a whole30 approved fish sauce)
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 Tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
- (optional) 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
- 1 lb serloin beef tips or flank steak trimmed and cut into 1 inch pieces
- 1 Tablespoon avocado oil
- 1/2 cup beef broth
- 12 ounces broccoli florets
- sesame seeds and green onion to garnish
Instructions
- Stir together the marinade in a large bowl or zip lock bag. Toss the beef in the marinade and let sit in the fridge for at least 1-2 hours up to overnight.
- Pour the beef and marinade into the Instant Pot with the beef broth and avocado oil, stir together.
- Lock the lid, set the steamer valve to sealing and select high pressure/manual for 10 minutes.
- After the cooking has finished immediately quick release the steam. Once the pressure has released remove the lid and stir in the broccoli florets.
- Place the lid back on the Instant Pot and lock for 5 minutes. (Do not set an additional cooking time, the residual heat will cook the broccoli. 5 minutes will yield broccoli that is still a bit aldente, for very soft broccoli let it stay in the Instant Pot for 10 minutes.)
- (Optional) To thicken the sauce remove the beef and broccoli with a slotted spoon and set aside. Turn the Instant Pot to Sauté mode with the lid off and reduce the sauce for 10 minutes.
- Once the sauce has reached the desired thickness stir the beef and broccoli back into the sauce to warm through.
- Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions and serve. Enjoy!

I thought the flavors were wonderful in this recipe but the meat came out a bit tough, even though I marinated for 24 hours. Do you have a suggestion on how to avoid this? Longer cook time perhaps?

Hi Amy, I’m sorry to hear that. For me the meat has always been incredibly tender. Which cut of meat did you use and how was it sliced?
