Whole30 Ranch Dressing

This Whole30 Ranch Dressing is truly something special. It has such amazing flavor thanks for the fresh garlic, dill and parsley. And the avocado oil, egg and coconut milk make it thick and ultra creamy. I promise you, this will become your go to ranch dressing recipe long after your Whole30 is over.

Keto Ranch Dressing

This keto ranch dressing recipe is also Whole30 and Paleo. It’s made of simple clean ingredients that yield a superior taste and texture to anything you can buy in the store and it’s loaded with nutrition.

Whole30 Dump Ranch

Whole30 dump ranch really gets all the attention but truth is this recipe takes just about the same amount of time, a couple minutes and blending is all that’s needed. It’s so simple and so much better thickier, creamier and just down right tastier than any other ranch recipe I’ve tried (whole30 or not).

What Makes This The Best Ranch Dressing Recipe?

I believe there are two main reasons that makes this the very BEST ranch dressing recipe. First, this recipe uses simple and fresh ingredients that maximize taste. From fresh garlic, dill and parsley to fresh lemon juice the ingredient list can’t be beat. The second reason this ranch dressing is the absolute best is the flavor and texture achieved with these ingredients! I’m a fan of thick and super creamy ranch and this is the very best ranch dressing I’ve ever had! I believe the texture is largely contributed to the fact that you aren’t using pre-made mayo to make the dressing instead the mayo ingredients are a part of the ranch dressing recipe. The great thing about this recipe is that you can thin it out if desired and customize it to your taste and needs. (If you choose to thin this dressing out you will need to adjust seasoning.)

How To Make this Whole30 Ranch Dressing

*Full recipe and ingredients are listed in the recipe card below.

To make this dairy free ranch dressing, use a wide-mouth 16 ounce or larger mason jar or larger, add the avocado oil, egg, coconut milk, garlic clove, lemon juice, apple cider vinegar, dijon mustard, salt, pepper, onion powder, garlic powder and smoked paprika.

Insert the immersion blender (you will need an immersion blender as a standard blender will not work for this – I’ve linked my favorite if you need one) into the bottom of the jar directly over top of the egg yolk. Blend on high and leave the immersion blender on the bottom of the jar without moving for approximately 20-30 seconds until the entire bottom of the jar is emulsified and creamy. Then with the blender still on high, slowly lift up while you blend. Continue blending until the dressing is fully blended, smooth and thickened.

Remove the immersion blender.

To the top of the jar add the fresh dill and fresh parsley. Place the immersion blender into the very top of the jar just over the herbs and begin blending after a few seconds while still blending move the blender down into the jar until the herbs are fully incorporated. Then remove the immersion blender.

Place a lid on the jar, mark the jar with the date the dressing was made and store in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.

How To Tell If Eggs Are Fresh

This recipe requires the use of a fresh egg. Backyard chickens are great but many of us don’t have our own chickens. If that’s the case for you and you have a farmer’s market near you that’s next best thing. You can easily tell if you have a fresh egg once you crack it. If the egg white is runny and watery then your egg is not fresh. What you want to see is a thick and gelatinous egg white that has volume to it’s shape.

If you want to tell if an egg is fresh before cracking it open simply fill a glass with cold water and place the egg at the surface of the water and let it go.

  • If the egg sinks down to the bottom of the glass and lays on it’s side then it is fresh.
  • If the egg sinks down to the bottom of the glass and almost lays on it’s side but not completely and is at a slight angle the egg is about a week old but still considered fresh.
  • If the egg sinks down to the bottom of the glass but stands on one end it is about 3-4 weeks old and is still good to eat if eaten soon however it will not yield the best results in making mayonnaise.
  • If the egg floats at the top of the water then the egg is not fresh and should be discarded.

Description

Thick and ultra creamy and made with simple healthy clean ingredients, this is undoubtably The Best Ranch Dressing Recipe you’ll ever have! This homemade ranch dressing is dairy free, keto, Whole30 and paleo. It’s so easy and comes together in minutes!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup avocado oil
  • 1 egg, organic and as fresh as possible
  • 1/4 cup full fat coconut milk
  • 1 garlic clove, peeled and smashed
  • 1 Tablespoon fresh squeezed lemon juice
  • 2 teaspoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon dijon mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon unrefined sea salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 2 Tablespoons fresh dill
  • 2 Tablespoons fresh flat leaf parsley

Instructions

  1. To a wide-mouth 16 ounce or larger mason jar, add the avocado oil, egg, coconut milk, garlic clove, lemon juice, apple cider vinegar, dijon mustard, salt, pepper, onion powder, garlic powder and smoked paprika.
  3. Remove the immersion blender.
  4. To the top of the jar add the fresh dill and fresh parsley. Place the immersion blender into the very top of the jar just over the herbs and begin blending after a few seconds while still blending move the blender down into the jar until the herbs are fully incorporated. Then remove the immersion blender.
  5. Place a lid on the jar, mark the jar with the date the dressing was made and store in the fridge for up to 2 weeks. Enjoy!

Notes

*A 16 ounce mason jar is a tight fit for this recipe and reaches maximum capacity but is what I used and is pictured above. It works since the immersion blender doesn’t spill the thick dressing but a larger jar would be easier to maneuver.

Hi Emily, so glad you like the recipe. I currently have not tested an egg free version of this recipe that works. If I do find one I’ll be sure to update the post with the substitution option. Thanks for asking!

A raw egg? What about salmonella poisoning? Should that not be a concern?

      Hi Dee Dee,
A bacterial inflection from salmonella can only occur if an egg is contaminated. According to the USDA the risk of an egg being contaminated is quite low. For me personally, no salmonella is not a concern. Contamination is possible with any food source so my advise would be to do what you are comfortable with.

You can wash the egg before breaking it. That should help.

The avocado oil which I bought was colored green and it also made the whole dressing turn into a green color not the nice looking creme color you have. After mixing everything together the taste is also rather bitter. Do you have any suggestions on how I can fix this? I am living in The Netherlands and ranch dressing is not something we have in the store so I was excited to try this recipe and it turned out different than I expected.

Hello Cindy, I’m so sorry to hear that. I suspect due to the color and taste you mentioned that something is off with the avocado oil you had. I’m not sure what brands you have access to in the Netherlands but I always recommend Chosen Foods brand avocado oil. However if you can’t find it you can use any other neutral flavored oil that you’d like, such as olive oil in it’s place. I hope this helps, please let me know how it goes using a new oil.

I just started my first whole 30 and decided to try your ranch recipe. Wow! My kids literally ate collard green roll up sandwiches dipped in ranch because this sauce is so good! I’ve tried several ranch recipes in the past and they never taste like ranch. This tastes like ranch! It’s so good. Thank you.
