Avocado Chocolate Mousse is simple, creamy and made in under 5 minutes from a few basic pantry ingredients! This easy and healthy dessert recipe is paleo, vegan and dairy free!

Avocado Chocolate Mousse

This Avocado Chocolate Mousse is so creamy and decadent it doesn’t seem like it’s a healthy dessert. I’ve made variations of this recipe and served it for over 10 years now and it’s always a hit! I used to make this mousse with more avocado (which you still can) and fresh young coconut instead of the canned coconut cream I use today. The recipe has evolved to include more pantry staples and tastes like a real deal chocolate mousse that you wouldn’t guess has avocado in it! It’s a wonderful vegan chocolate recipe everyone will enjoy!

Are Mousse And Pudding The Same

No, mousse and pudding are different. Traditional pudding is cooked and requires precision and tempering of egg yolks. Traditional mouse is light and airy after having egg whites folded in.

This chocolate mousse is both paleo and vegan so there are no eggs and the whole recipe is made easily right in the blender with only serving dishes needed and quick and easy clean up!

Straight out of the blender this mousse actually reminds me of warm pudding (eat it like that if you want – it’s really good!) After chilling the in the fridge this recipe really thickens up yielding a very light and creamy mousse.

Paleo Avocado Chocolate Pudding

This avocado chocolate mousse recipe can easily become a Paleo Avocado Chocolate Pudding recipe (also Vegan) by simply adding in 1/4 cup of coconut water from the can along with the cream called for in the recipe. The addition of coconut water thins the mixture to a pudding consistency that will stay that consistency even when refrigerated. It will still thicken up some from what you see straight out of the blender but will not reach mousse consistency.

Can You Taste The Avocado In Chocolate Mousse

This is undoubtable the first thing someone wants to know when you tell them you can make chocolate mousse out of avocados! And the answer is: No! At least not with this recipe. This recipe incorporates avocado but it’s not a prominent flavor, the cocoa powder and coconut cream do a nice job and stealing the show and the avocado mainly lends it’s creamy quality and added health benefits to the dessert.

How To Make Avocado Chocolate Mousse

This recipe is so very simple. First, scoop out the flesh only of the avocado and add all ingredients to the blender. Begin blending slowly and work your way up to high speed for about one minute until completely blended and smooth.

Step two, transfer the chocolate mousse into ramekins or pint sized mason jars and refrigerate for 1 hour or longer. (The longer you refrigerate the creamier the mousse will become.)

Step three, serve as is or topped with coconut cream and sliced strawberries, that’s it! Enjoy!

Keto Avocado Chocolate Mousse

In order to make this recipe Keto you’ll need to substitute the pure maple syrup for a low-carb sweetener of your choice. There are lots of options but a liquid sweetener will work best in this recipe and I recommend using 1/4 cup of this Keto Maple Syrup so you still achieve the maple flavor.

Can I Make Avocado Chocolate Mousse Ahead Of Time

Yes, this is a wonderful dessert to make ahead! This chocolate mousse should be poured into the serving dishes of your choice, covered and and refrigerated for up to 3 days before eating.

It’s also great to eat on the same day and leftovers can be saved for up to 3 days.

This is the best chocolate mousse i’ve ever tasted! It was SUPER easy to make in the blender, and keeps so well in the fridge without any change in consistency or taste. I fed this to my children and they had no clue they were eating avocado =) This is in our recipe book now and will be made often! Thank you Nicole!
