Vegan Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies
These are hands down my favorite Chocolate Chip Cookies! They remind me so much of the chocolate chip cookies my Grandma made for me growing up! Grandma likes a loaded cookie, full of chocolate chips, oats and walnuts. This ode to Grandma’s Famous Chocolate Chip Cookie has gotten her stamp of approval and there is no greater award than that. Interested in Grandma’s other favorite cookie recipe on the blog? It’s my Double Chocolate Peppermint Cookies – she asks for them year round!

Gluten-free, Vegan, and naturally sweetened with pure maple syrup, the only sugar in these comes from the dark chocolate chips. Be forewarned, these cookies disappear quickly!
This recipe was born out of my love of almond butter based cookies. They are rich, soft and full of the ooey gooey chocolate we all love in a chocolate chip cookie. The results were approved by family and friends and continue to be a reader favorite in the baked goods category.

How To Make Vegan Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies
These vegan cookies with almond flour come together easily by creaming the softened butter, almond butter, maple syrup and vanilla. To the creamed batter, add in the rolled oats, almond flour, ground cinnamon, baking soda and salt. Stir until the dough is completely combine and then mix in the chocolate chips and walnuts using a rubber spatula. Use a cookie scoop to portion out the cookie dough then bake the cookies for 8-10 minutes in a preheated 350 degree fahrenheit oven. Enjoy! (*Don’t forget to try some of the batter on it’s own. It’s my favorite cookie dough!)
Substitutions for Vegan Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies
These oatmeal almond butter chocolate chip cookies are designed to be gluten free and vegan but there are a few tested substitutions you can do to suit your needs.
- Almond butter – you can use another type of unsalted unsweetened nut butter or seed butter here but I like the flavor of almond butter best in these cookies.
- Non-dairy butter – if you aren’t vegan or dairy free you can use unsalted dairy butter in this recipe.
- Walnuts – you can substitute the raw walnuts in this recipe for another raw unsalted nut such as a pecan or omit them altogether.

I’ve made these cookies more than once now and they don’t last long enough. They’re gone in no time. The maple syrup is such a great idea.

Made these AGAIN – added a small amount more of almond flour and oats, (I omit the nuts – our son doesn’t care for nuts in his cookies), and baked them for 11 minutes to make the cookie a bit firmer for shipping to our son for Christmas. They turned out well.
