If you are looking for a whole30 compliant taco seasoning look no further! This easy recipe is made in 2 minutes and yields 4 ounces of taco seasoning that will take you through multiple taco nights! 2 Tablespoons of this seasoning is the equivalent of one packet of store bought taco seasoning.
Ingredients to make Homemade Taco Seasoning
For this taco seasoning recipe you will need the following ingredients which you may already have on hand!
- chili powder – is one of the main ingredients that gives taco seasoning it’s distinctive flavor
- cumin – provides another great distinctive flavor in both tacos and chili
- dried oregano – a must in taco seasoning
- garlic powder – you could also use granulated garlic but I prefer powder
- smoked paprika – adds so much depth of flavor
- fine sea salt – salt enhances all the other flavors
- black pepper – freshly ground black pepper adds flavor without too much spice
- cayenne pepper – optional but recommended

- 2 Tablespoons cumin
- 1 1/2 teaspoons dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon fine sea salt
- 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
Instructions
- Combine all ingredients in a 4 ounce mason jar and store with the lid on for up to 6 months.
Notes
2 Tablespoons is the equivalent to 1 packet of taco seasoning. This recipe will equal roughly 2 packets-worth of taco seasoning.

Where do all the calories/carbs come from in this recipe? I was surprised to see the nutritional info — with just seasonings, salt, and pepper it seems the calories/carbs should be much lower. Thanks

Hello Kathy! The nutrition information is created from a nutrition calculator based off the ingredients. I’m not sure how it calculates the carb count.
