Whole30 Taco Seasoning is the perfect sugar free taco seasoning to keep on hand for any of your Taco Tuesday recipes!

Sugar Free Taco Seasoning

I still remember the first time I looked at the taco seasoning packet I’d brought home from the store. Why did the ingredients list SUGAR!?! I didn’t want sweet tacos, why was this sneaky sugar present along with other filler ingredients?

No thank you, I never bought another seasoning packet again. Making my own sugar free taco seasoning has been easy to do and just another simple way to choose exactly what ingredients are going into my family.

Whole30 Taco Seasoning

If you are looking for a whole30 compliant taco seasoning look no further! This easy recipe is made in 2 minutes and yields 4 ounces of taco seasoning that will take you through multiple taco nights! 2 Tablespoons of this seasoning is the equivalent of one packet of store bought taco seasoning.

Ingredients to make Homemade Taco Seasoning

For this taco seasoning recipe you will need the following ingredients which you may already have on hand!

  • chili powder – is one of the main ingredients that gives taco seasoning it’s distinctive flavor
  • cumin – provides another great distinctive flavor in both tacos and chili
  • dried oregano – a must in taco seasoning
  • garlic powder – you could also use granulated garlic but I prefer powder
  • smoked paprika – adds so much depth of flavor
  • fine sea salt – salt enhances all the other flavors
  • black pepper – freshly ground black pepper adds flavor without too much spice
  • cayenne pepper – optional but recommended

How to make Whole30 + Paleo Taco Seasoning

Making homemade taco seasoning is as easy as combining the above spices and storing them in a 4 ounce mason jar with lid! Then you’re always prepared for a taco feast!

Using this Taco Seasoning in your Whole30 Meals

Nothing makes any meal tastier than when it’s properly seasoned and that’s just as true for your Whole30 meals! When you begin the Whole30 diet you often have to find a lot of replacement staples. It’s so common for store-bought sauces and seasonings to be filled with sneaky sugars, grains, starches, dairy and the list goes on. Good news! This homemade Whole30 Taco Seasoning is made of simple spices you may already have on hand and favors so many dishes perfectly.

Where do all the calories/carbs come from in this recipe? I was surprised to see the nutritional info — with just seasonings, salt, and pepper it seems the calories/carbs should be much lower. Thanks

Hello Kathy! The nutrition information is created from a nutrition calculator based off the ingredients. I’m not sure how it calculates the carb count.
