What is Jasmine Rice best served with?
If you’ve been around here for awhile it’s not new information that I LOVE rice! In fact some of my favorite comfort foods are layered on top of rice. Pictured above is a Gluten Free Stir Fry (that we make at least once a week), Instant Pot Butter Chicken (which I’m convinced I could literally eat every day of my life), Instant Pot Teriyaki Chicken and my favorite Healthy Sweet and Sour Chicken (also made in the Instant Pot – yep, I’m also my Instant Pot’s biggest fan). So it only made sense that I started talking about my favorite way to make Instant Pot Rice!
What You Need:
- Instant Pot
- Jasmine White Rice
- Water
- Fine Mesh Strainer
How to make Instant Pot Jasmine Rice 2 cups:
To make two cups of jasmine rice in the Instant Pot begin by rinsing your rice using a fine-mesh strainer and rinsing the rice under cold running water until the water runs clear.
Once rinsed, add the rice and water to the Instant Pot. Cover and lock the lid. Select pressure cook on high pressure or manual for 4 minutes, with the “keep warm” button selected.
After the cooking time has finished, allow the Instant Pot to naturally depressurize for 10 minutes.
*Pro Tip: Once you hear the Instant Pot beep after the 4 minute cooking time has elapsed, set yourself a 10 minute timer so you don’t end up forgetting about your rice!
Once the 10 minute natural release is complete, quick release any remaining pressure by carefully moving the steam valve to “venting”. After the steam has fully released and the pressure pin has dropped, carefully open the lid by tilting it away from you. Use a fork, fluff the rice and serve. It’s that easy!

Do you have to rinse jasmine rice?
The short answer is yes. You want to rinse but not soak the rice before cooking in your Instant Pot or pressure cooker. This step is important to rinse out the excess starch which if left will cause clumpy rice that sticks together and is a bit gummy in texture.
