Instant Pot Chicken Ingredients
To make this Instant Pot Shredded Chicken Recipe, you will need the following ingredients:
- Chicken – This recipe will work with either chicken breasts or thighs. I use boneless typically but you are welcome to use bone-in chicken as well.
- Chicken Bone Broth / Stock – Besides salt, I truly think this is the most important element of the recipe. While you could use water in place of the broth in a pinch it just isn’t as good. If you want the BEST shredded chicken then you want to use a high quality homemade or bought chicken broth.
- Seasonings – This recipe uses the simple mix of unrefined sea salt, fresh black pepper and garlic powder.

I use a hand mixer to shred my chicken. I shred it right in the pressure cooker pot. If it’s really liquidy, I will drape a hand towel or something over the pot so it doesn’t splash everywhere while shredding.
