How do you make Baked Lemon Pepper Chicken Wings?
These baked lemon pepper chicken wings couldn’t be easier! First you want to make sure you are using fresh or completely thawed wings. Preheat the oven, prepare your baking sheet, pat the wings dry, assemble your seasonings with the secret crisp-making ingredient: baking powder, season and bake! Once the wings are baked toss them in the lemon pepper sauce or eat as is for a more mild tasting wing.
Are Boneless Chicken Wings Really Wings?
No, they aren’t. The “wings” that are served as boneless are essentially chicken nuggets shaped to look like a wing. They will taste more like chicken fingers than wings since they are breaded.
How many wings does a chicken have?
A chicken only has two wings however you essentially get four “wings” from each chicken because the wing tip and the drumette are separated from each full chicken wing.
Can I make Lemon Pepper Chicken?
YES! This recipes is so tasty you could certainly bake boneless, skinless chicken breasts rubbed in avocado oil and seasoned with salt and pepper in a 350 degree oven for 25-30 minutes until cooked through. After the chicken breasts are cooked toss them in the sauce or shred the chicken and then toss in the sauce. This would make for great chicken sliders, topping a salad with or making into a wrap.
Are oven baked wings really crispy?
I know some of you will be skeptical that you can really achieve perfectly crispy chicken wings in the oven but I promise you these wings are incredibly crispy. If you haven’t tried baking your chicken wings before then you will have to trust me, this recipe comes out extra crispy with a wonderful lemon pepper flavor and bright freshness. They are every bit as good as deep fried wings without the added oil.

Tips For Making The Crispiest Whole30 Chicken Wings:
- Make sure you use a metal oven safe cooking rack on top of the baking sheet in order to achieve the crispiest wings. If you don’t have one you can bake the wings directly on top of your baking sheet.
- Pat dry your chicken wings with a paper towel and place them in a large mixing bowl. Patting the wings dry ensures the skin is able to crisp.
- Baking powder – this is a must for the crispiest oven baked wings.
- Arrange the wings evenly on the metal cooking rack and flip each wing during the cooking process.

Baked Lemon Pepper Chicken Wings – Amazingly flavorful and extra crispy, these easy oven baked chicken wings are covered in freshly squeezed lemon and cracked black pepper. These Whole30 Chicken Wings make the perfect appetizer, game day snack or movie night spread!
Ingredients
Wings:
- 2 lbs chicken party wings or drumettes
- 1 Tablespoon lemon zest
- 2 teaspoons baking powder* (see note below for Paleo & Whole30)
- 1 teaspoon unrefined sea salt
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/8 teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper
Sauce:
- 1/4 cup avocado oil
- 1 Tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon fresh cracked black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon unrefined sea salt
- 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 450 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and place a metal oven safe cooking rack on top of the baking sheet.
- Pat dry your chicken wings with a paper towel and place them in a large mixing bowl.
- In a small bowl add the lemon zest, baking powder*, salt, garlic powder and black pepper, stir to combine.
- Sprinkle the spice mixture over the wings and toss until evenly coated.
- Arrange the wings evenly on the metal cooking rack and bake for 30 minutes.
- Remove from the oven and flip each one then return to the oven for another 10-30 minutes until golden and crispy. (The size of wings will change the cooking duration, cook until the wings reach 160 degree internal temperature.)
- While the wings bake mix together the sauce ingredients in a small bowl.
